Partly the success of Pan Masala (aside from its aromatic flavours) is that its is prepackaged for ready consumption with all the necessary ingredients to release the alkaloids.
Pan Masala has been deemed 'Instant Pan' (akin to 'instant coffee'). The tins are 100g, the smaller packages are packed with dipping gutkha**.
It basically looks like little pebbles in a fine brown powder which is the burnt lime and spices.
1. Place a very small amount -- slightly less than a teaspoon (less than ¼ gram) of the powdery nuggets in your mouth, either under your tongue or in your cheek. You will immediately notice breathing becomes easier and the air feels cool and minty due to the menthol.
