Urad dal are lentil like beans that have black skin with creamy white interiors. Split urad dal retain the skins and also have a strong flavor.
It is off- white in color and is mostly used by south Indians for their specialties like dosa, idli, vada etc. It is thicker in consistency as compared with other dals.
